Ship Manifests
If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
--Pilgrims
Here are ship passenger lists, which record our ancestors as they
immigrated to America.
Different families often traveled together in groups. It is possible
that neighbors from the same village were on the same voyage. Extended
families traveled together also. Other familes traveling on the same
ship may indeed be relatives, by blood or by marriage.
Actual images of some manifests are available. Otherwise an index is
provided, which is a tranacription of the original record. Names were
often wildly misspelled and the ages given are usually inaccurate. If
you search for your ancestors, be sure to use spelling variations,
including misspellings and even different first letters.
