"Johann Peter Pohl and his family emigrated to America in 1841. Following his older brother Nicholaus [Pohl] (who had emigrated to America one year earlier and settled in Section 5 of Westphalia Township on May 29, 1841), the Family's journey began in the Eifel village of Antweiler/Ahr where Johann and Maria Hellenthal Pohl were living since their marriage on March 3, 1829. ...[They] sailed from Le Havre, France aboard the Ship Louis Phillippe arriving in New York on August 9, 1841. With their remaining savings the family purchased 26.3 acres in Section 9. ... Platte Bach (Kloechner Creek) is on the south side of this parcel and divides the original lot from a subsequent purchase of 54 acres in 1847.
Mr. Pohl also provides a photocopy of Johann Peter Pohl's passport, and its translation:
"Royal Prussian States
"Travel passport to a foreign country. Valid for four months, for farmer Johann Peter Pohl, born in Müsch, living in Antweiler with his wife Maria Catharina Hellenthal 35, with his children Maria Anna 11, Nicholaus 9, Anna Catharina 4 and Johann Michael Pohl 1 year old, in order to immigrate to North America and to be naturalized there, from Antweiler to Neuweid, Rotterdam, Le Havre, etc. to New York. With a proposal to the mayor of Aremburg, He (Johann Peter Pohl) is proven un-suspiciously of his identity and there for has received this passport, and all the civil and military authorities are duly asked to give him and his family free and un-restricted travel guidance and if needed he should be given protection and help.
"This passport has to be shown and stamped by each police office of each place where the passport holder is staying longer than 24 hours, without a difference whether it is a city or village.
"Issued in Koblenz, Royal Administration...
