Obituary for Lillian Webster

Services: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wednesday, June 11th, at 11 a.m.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 10, 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.(Prayer service at 7:30 p.m.) Clark Family Funeral Chapel

Lillian Elizabeth Webster, age 93 was lifted peacefully up to heaven in the presence of her family on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Maplewood Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 11th at 11 a.m. with Fr. Robert Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Lillian was born on February 16, 1915, to Clara and Edward Voisin, the first of eight children. She was the Valedictorian of the Sacred Heart Academy Class of 1933. Lillian married Boyd Bradford Webster on June 24, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1959. After her husband's death, Lillian was left to raise four daughters. Never having a driver's license, she walked to work for 23 years in the Payroll and Accounting Department of Central Michigan University. Lillian retired in 1982 and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and internationally with her sisters. She recalled her trip to the Vatican and being in the presence of Pope John Paul II as one of her fondest memories.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Catholic Daughter's of America, and was a Gold Key Volunteer for many years. She worked as an Isabella County Election Official for over 25 years.

Lillian is survived by daughters, Maryanne Webster of Mt. Pleasant, Susan (John) Matousek of Owosso, Rita Jean (Jimm) Ackerman of St. Johns and Theresa (Mark) Ellis of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Dorothy (Jerry) Sheahan and Rita Ann Deni and brother, Walter (Kathleen) Voisin all of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by grandchildren, Theresa Jean (Brian) Schousek of Houlton, WI, Michelle (James) Fugazzi of Toledo, Ohio, John J. (Bethany) Matousek of Owosso, and Jennifer Matousek of Ann Arbor, MI; Jamie Lynn (Andy Karek) Ackerman and Andrew Ackerman both of St. Johns, MI; Arthur Bradford (Hanako) Ellis of Tokyo, Japan, Brian (Karen Kimm) Ellis of Princeton, NJ, and Katherine Ellis of Kalamazoo, MI; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Nathaniel Schousek and Andrew Fugazzi.

Lillian was preceded in death by her father, Edward, in 1956; mother, Clara, in 1981; sisters, Irene in 1997, Ruth in 2004; brothers, Joseph in 1961, and Leo in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her first great grandchild, Zachary Schousek in 1998.

Mary Ann Webster, age 66, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, May 8, 2009, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski officiating with Deacon Larry Fussman assisting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Mary Ann was born on July 23, 1942, to Lillian (Voisin) and Boyd Webster. Mary Ann was the eldest of four daughters. She was a devoted daughter caring for her mother and sisters after the death of her father on May 10, 1959. As a dedicated spiritual person, Mary Ann volunteered at the Sacred Heart Parish and the Religious Education Program. She spent many years caring for young children at the Sacred Heart Academy Latchkey Program. Her nieces and nephews will dearly remember her as “Aunt Mimi” who
spent hours and hours playing games and giving treats from her candy drawer.

She enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at Winchester Towers and spending Sunday afternoons at Maplewood of Mt. Pleasant. Her kind mannerisms brought smiles to the faces of all who met her. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a Gold Key Volunteer. She was a champion for the disabled. She loved to garden and to feed the birds.

Mary Ann is survived by her sisters, Susan (John) Matousek of Owosso; Rita (Jimm) Ackerman of St. Johns; and Theresa (Mark) Ellis of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Theresa Jean (Brian) Schousek, Elizabeth and Victoria Schousek of Houlton, Wis.; Michelle (Jim) Fugazzi, Andrew and Gabriella Fugazzi of Sylvania, Ohio; John J. (Bethany) Matousek of Owosso; A. Bradford (Hana) Ellis of Tokyo, Japan; Brian (Karen Kimm) Ellis of Princeton, N.J.; Jamie Lynn (Andy) Karek of St. Johns, Katherine Elizabeth Ellis of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Andrew Webster Ackerman of East Lansing, Mich.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father; mother (June 7, 2008); grandparents; and great-nephews, Zachary (1998) and Nathan Schousek (2008).
