Michael had his leg broken by his team of horses running away. He died from this accident. He was an early pioneer, who came from Canada as a boy. His citizenship papers are dated 14 April 1885 from the Queen of Great Britain. He marked his name with an "X" in the Isabella County Circuit Court.
