Court Proceedings

...After the jury went out in the Byers case, the two cases of the Com. vs. Peter Altimus, one a charge of disturbing a literary society, S. J. Mardis and John G. Stewart, prosecutors, and the other a case of A. & B., A. W. Repine, pros., were then called for trial and were not concluded until Thursday morning. It seems that A. W. Repine was teaching a school in Buffington tp. A literary society was organized which held their meetings in the school room. The deft. and some others interfered with the meeting and after the meeting was adjourned the deft. and Repine got into an altercation and Repine came out second best. The deft. was found guilty of disturbing the meeting and was sentence to pay $5 and costs. He was found not guilty of the A. & B. and the costs imposed upon him and the prosecutor, Repine, and each sentenced to pay one-half.
