Land patent for Peter Joseph "Joseph" Voisin [I00688] and Catherine (Meyer) Voisin [I00689]. Joseph Voisin bought 84 acres in part of lot 1 of concession 8 and part of lot 1 of concession 9. He paid 73 pounds and 10 shillings. His name is listed as Joseph "Weison," which is probably spelled the way it sounded to the clerk.

Victoria, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, QUEEN, Defender of the Faith.

To all to whom these Presents shall come—Greeting:

Whereas Joseph Weison, of the township of Wellesley in the county of Waterloo, yeoman with Our Commissioner for the sale of Our Crown Lands, duly authorized by Us in this behalf, for the absolute purchase at and fore the price and sum of Seventy three pounds ten shillings of lawful money of Our said Province, of the Lands and Tenements hereinafter mentioned and described, of which We are seized in right of Our Crown. NOW KNOW YE, that in consideration of the said sum of Seventy three pounds ten shillings by him the said Joseph Weison to Our said Commissioner of Crown Lands, in hand well and truly paid to Our use, at or before the sealing of these Our Letters Patent, We have granted, sold, aliened, conveyed and assured, and by these presents do grant, sell, alien, convey and assure, unto the said Joseph Weison his Heirs and Assigns for ever, All that Parcel or Tract of Land, situate, lying and being in the Township of Wellesley in the County of Waterloo of Our said Province, containing by admeasurement eighty four acres be the same more or less; which said Parcel or Tract of Land may be otherwise known as follows, that is to say: being composed of

The North East part of Lot Number One in the Eighth Concession, and the South part of Lot Number One in the Ninth Concession, Easter Section, of the aforesaid Township of Wellesley

Commencing in the Centre of the said Eighth Concession in the Easterly limit of the said Lot No. one; thence North nine degrees five minutes East thirty one chains twenty five links; thence North eighty Degrees fifty five minutes West forty chains, more or less, to the Westerly limit of Lot no. one in the ninth Concession thence South nine Degrees five minutes West six chains twenty five links, more or less, to the limit between the eighth and ninth Concessions; thence South Eighty Degrees fifty five minutes East sixteen Chains thirty seven links and a half; thence South nine Degrees five minutes West twenty five chains, more or less, to the centre of the said Eighth Concession; thence South eighty degrees fifty five minutes East twenty three chains Sixty two links and a half, more or less, to the place of beginning.

To have and to hold the said Parcel or Tract of Land, hereby granted, conveyed and assured, unto the said Joseph Weison his Heirs and Assigns, for ever; saving, excepting and reserving, nevertheless, unto Us, Our Heirs and Successors, all Mines of Gold and Silver, and the free uses, passage and enjoyment, of, in, over and upon all navigable waters that shall or may be hereafter found on or under, or be flowing through or upon any part of the said Parcel or Tract of Land hereby granted as aforesaid.

Given under the Great Seal of Our Province of Canada: Witnesses, Our Trusty and Well-beloved SIR, EDMUND WALKER HEAD, BARONET, Governor General of British North America, and Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over Our Provinces of Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Island of Prince Edward, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c. At Toronto, this twenty sixth day of January in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six and in the nineteenth year of Our Reign.
